In exercise of the powers conferred on me by section 15 of the Legal Aid (Scotland) Act 1967(a) and sections 1 and 11 of the Legal Advice and Assistance Act 1972(b) and of all other powers enabling me in that behalf, I hereby make the following regulations:—

1.—(1) These regulations may be cited as the Legal Advice and Assistance (Scotland) (Financial Conditions) (No. 4) Regulations 1979 and shall come into operation on the day after they have been approved by resolution of each House of Parliament.

(2) In these regulations, "the Act" means the Legal Advice and Assistance Act 1972 and "the 1979 Regulations" mean the Legal Advice and Assistance (Scotland) (Financial Conditions) (No. 2) Regulations 1979(c).

2. For the weekly sum of £75 specified in section 1(a) of the Act as amended by the 1979 Regulations, there shall be substituted the weekly sum of £85.

EXPLANATORY NOTE

(This Note is not part of the Regulations.)

These Regulations increase the disposable income limit for eligibility for legal advice and assistance under the Legal Advice and Assistance Act 1972 from £75 a week to £85 a week.
