The following lists include a selection of the most common abbreviations which lawyers, librarians, information officers or researchers may come across when undertaking legal research. They focus on abbreviations found in the United Kingdom for:
• legislation;
• the titles of publications (mainly law reports and journals);
• ‘textual devices’ – mainly Latin abbreviations.
