Met Office share thunderstorm warning as unusual conditions hit UK

It has been a cold and rainy start to the day on Merseyside as the forecasting agency predict heavy rain will arrive later this morning. The miserable downturn comes after some Spring sunshine finally arrived in the region yesterday afternoon

April has largely saw bleak conditions on Merseyside and the forecasting agency predict the unusually cold conditions for this time of year to continue across the weekend. The forecast for the North West said: "After another chilly start, Thursday will be a mixed day of cloudy periods and sunny spells. Scattered showers developing, these possibly heavy in southern areas. Another cool feeling day. Maximum temperature 10C.

For Friday, it predicted: "Dry, chilly and mostly sunny to start. Cloud bubbling up with a scattering of showers developing but many places remaining dry. Light winds but still feeling rather cool. Maximum temperature 10C."

Across Saturday -Monday, the Met Office added: "Cloudy but mainly dry on Saturday, then breezier on Sunday and wet with heavy rain at times. Drier and brighter on Monday. Rather cool for late April."
