The Milk (Extension of Period of Control of Maximum Prices) Order 1974

The Queen's Most Excellent Majesty in Council

Whereas section 6 of the Emergency Laws (Re-enactments and Repeals) Act 1964(a) (which enables the Minister of Agriculture, Fisheries and Food or the Secretary of State to control by order the maximum prices of milk) as continued in force by the Milk (Extension of Period of Control of Maximum Prices) Order 1969(b) remains in force until the end of 1974 but may be continued in force under the provisions of that section for further periods not exceeding five years:

And whereas a draft of this Order has been approved by resolution of each House of Parliament:

Now, therefore, Her Majesty, in exercise of the powers conferred upon Her by section 6 of the Emergency Laws (Re-enactments and Repeals) Act 1964, is pleased, by and with the advice of Her Privy Council, to order, and it is hereby ordered, as follows:—

1. This Order may be cited as the Milk (Extension of Period of Control of Maximum Prices) Order 1974, and shall come into operation on 31st December 1974.

2. Section 6 of the Emergency Laws (Re-enactments and Repeals) Act 1964 shall continue in force for a further period of 5 years from the end of 1974.
