Mini marvels serve rich taste of Poland

When I spotted this breathless review, posted on Facebook by a delighted customer, I was keen to visit Fast Bite, a takeaway and mini cafe in the centre of Cleckheaton

Fast Bite was opened just a week ago by Patrycja, who says she learned all her cooking and baking skills from her mum back in Poland.

The menu has a mixture of English dishes, including breakfasts (full English is £6.50) and various sandwiches, with a sprinkling of central European sweet and savoury dishes such as goulash, which is a soup or stew of meat and vegetables.

I ordered a pulled pork burger (£5.60) and a coffee (£2.30) and was offered a 'taste test' of the goulash (£2.80) when I ventured that I'd never tried it before. It was porky and peppery, wholesome and delicious.

The pulled pork burger consisted of a brioche bun packed with juicy meat, pickles, onion, jalapenos, lettuce and a homemade barbecue sauce that had a hint of honey. It was so deliciously messy that I had to ask for a plate as my napkin just wasn't up to the job.

A steady stream of customers visited the shop for takeaway food - including American-style hotdogs - as I sat on a stool at one of just two spots for diners.
