CHAMBER:
Check vents in order. No stores, lumber or
stacks of wood. Fuel
not
in contact with heated surface. Doors self-
closing.
VENTILATING
CHAMBERS:
Check fans running properly. No
storage. Vents in order.
ROOF
VOID: See no stores. No temporary lighting leads. No
accumulation of dirt. Access illuminated.
STAGE
RISKS:
See
that
there is no scenery and property congestion.
Fire appliances, including fire curtain, drenchers and sky-light releases
unobstructed. Fire curtain lowered and raised at least once during each
performance or entertainment. Escapes properly maintained and clear.
Scenery hook and axe in position. Doors closed. No unnecessary
property or dress baskets. Flies clear of scenery
and
stores. Safety
curtain operated during presence of public, and no wires or ropes or
other obstructions in line of descent. Scenery not inflammable. Scenery
on stage for current production only. None on auditorium side of safety
curtain. No smoking on stage risk. Real flame only as approved.
Electricians and firemen available.
The
whole electrical installation in
charge of a competent person.
STAGE
BASEMENT:
To
be clear of stores, properties, scenery.
(Props may sometimes be stored with permission.) No work benches.
Not
used as paint room or workshop. Doors closed.
Kept
clean.
TELEPHONE:
Atelephone communicating with each floor should
be installed and this should be tested occasionally to ensure it is in
working order. .
TOILETS:
Should be inspected for cleanliness, or
that
no indecent
conduct by males or females is permitted. APolicewoman should
inspect
the
ladies' toilet and report on its condition.

INTRODUCTION
THE mobile darkroom described below is at present used by
the
Singapore Police with good results.
The
island of Singapore is 27 miles in length and 14 in breadth,
and about 217 square miles in area.
The
Municipal area consists of 31
square miles, and is primarily residential
and
co~mercial;
the
r:-
mainder is predominantly agricultural, though housmg development is
proceeding at a rapid rate in the rural areas.
