Mum to face trial accused of killing her teenage son

Agnieszka Kalinowska, of Leeds Road, is accused of murdering her son Sebastian Kalinowski at their home with her partner Andrezej Latoszewski. The couple - who both worked at YOH Burger in Leeds Road - were charged following Sebastian's death last year

Sebastian, who was originally from Poland, was found with serious injuries by the ambulance service at his home on Friday, August 13, last year.

Ms Kalinowska and Mr Latoszewski deny the charge of murder.

They appeared at Leeds Crown Court on Thursday before The Honourable Mrs Justice Lambert. Representing the prosecution was Jason Pitter QC and Thomas Storey. Ms Kalinowska was represented by Marie Spenwyn and Leonard Smith and Mr Latoszewski was represented by Nicholas Lumley and Geraldine Kelly.

Ms Kalinowska wore a burgandy coloured jacket, with a black T-shirt underneath and Mr Latoszewski wore a grey sweatshirt. They were flanked by two dock officers and joined by a Polish interpreter.

Mrs Justice Lambert told the court it is expected the trial could last up to seven weeks, up to July 29.
