The government of Nepal has signed a deal with the World Bank to improve transparency and efficiency of major cash transfer programmes.

The government said that the USD300m loan agreement with World Bank would benefit the poorest and vulnerable sections of the society. Through the Cash Transfer Modernisation Project, the Department of Social Services (DSS) is to undertake projects to modernise the country's four major social protection programmes.
