However, that's all due to change soon (surely) meaning we can get outdoors and try some of the city's best beer gardens and roof terraces

But it's not all about outdoor spaces when it comes to food and drink in Glasgow this summer. There's a whole host of new restaurants, bars and cafes to get excited about.

With our last round-up published in spring, our latest guide to all of the city's new openings features over 30 new dining and drinking spots including gastropubs, bakeries, Indian restaurants, seafood spots, pizza places, coffee cafes... we could go on!

Here's everything you need to know about the latest openings - and what's coming soon.

New openings:

Rickshaw

The doors to Glasgow's latest Asian restaurant are now open, with the Partick eatery promising a modern take on street food 'straight from India and Bangladesh'.

Sat in the heart of Partick Bridge Street, the venue replaces what was Hyde cocktail bar.

Split over two floors, there's a 120-cover restaurant mezzanine, outside terrace and a café bar area. More importantly, the menu boasts small plates, tandoori grills, biryanis, salad bowls, wraps, tiffin boxes and larger curries.

Scamp

Glasgow's latest seafood restaurant, Scamp, has recently opened in the city centre.

Behind the exciting new venture are the team who run the hugely popular Eighty Eight and Hooligan in the city's west end.

Scamp will specialise in tapas-style seafood small plates, with owners commenting: "The menu, designed to be shared tapas-style, focuses on local, seasonal ingredients and quality flavours. Dishes include langoustine scampi with lemon and chipotle ketchup, BBQ spiced monkfish on the bone with bhuna sauce and sea bream ceviche with strawberry and elderflower dashi."

Whistler by the Green

Glasgow has a new gastropub with the arrival of Whistler On The Green.

Situated on Greendyke Street, looking onto Glasgow Green and occupying the former Whistlin' Kirk bar, the food and drink venue recently opened its doors. Owners describe the venue as a 'new local bar and eatery specialising in fine food and great drink.

The bar will be serving breakfast, lunch and evening bites, with the menus to be gradually introduced over the next week. Punters can order alcoholic drinks with their breakfasts from 8am, from Tuesday to Friday.

Fat Lobster

Located in the former home of the much-loved Mussel Inn on Hope Street - which closed its doors during the pandemic - Fat Lobster, from the team behind popular city centre drinking den Tabac aims 'to bring a relaxed, refined and diverse approach on seafood to the city centre'.

The team told Glasgow Live: "Our head chef is inspired by many different things from all walks of life, one of his main inspirations being the South West of France and their casual approach to dining. With his travels and his impressive catalogue of kitchen stunts combined, we believe we have really created something special and unique, to be enjoyed by everyone."

But it's not just about the seafood, with a diverse drinks offering being one of the big attractions at Fat Lobster.

Scallop's Tale

The Scallop's Tale has arrived in Bearsden, boasting an extensive dine-in and takeaway menu, packed with locally sourced fresh seafood dishes and fish and chip shop favourites.

The two-level Bearsden restaurant has a distinctly nautical feel to its impressive interior, which features traditional dark wood panelling and brass fittings set against a deep blue colour scheme which offers a 'refined family dining experience unlike anything in the surrounding area'.

The exciting restaurant and takeaway menus have been devised by executive chef Stephen Pohler, who has built an impressive CV including spells at the Lisini Dalziel Park Hotel, the Hilton Garden Inn, Crowne Plaza and the Radisson Red, in...
