The right-back has spent around 14 months on the sidelines after rupturing his ACL against Wigan Athletic in February 2023, but has been an unused substitute in Town's last two matches against Millwall and Preston North End

After having two surgeries on the injury, Turton worked his way back to a position where he could feature in a B Team fixture against Nottingham Forest in January. However, the defender suffered a setback to his meniscus during the game that resulted in him having further surgery.

Although the 31-year-old is yet to have taken to the field in the Championship since sustaining his original injury, the defender is pleased to be back in the squad following his long road to recovery.

Speaking to HTTV in the club's latest episode of Unrestricted, Turton said: "Once I'd done it on the pitch, I knew I'd done something really, really bad.

"Just the way it felt, there was a massive click, it felt like something had gone really wrong. Then just the reaction from the physios in the changing rooms once I'd come off, it seemed like they were really worried with what I'd done.

"I've gone for a scan and obviously I'd ruptured the ACL, and I was sent straight for surgery to be fair, which went really quick. I had the surgery, I thought I'd be on the road to recovery...
