Passengers thanked for patience in rail closures

From Friday, March 29 to last Sunday, significant rail upgrades were carried out between Huddersfield and Ravensthorpe

Engineers on the Transpennine Route Upgrade (TRU) upgraded more than 700m of track in Deighton and Mirfield and installed a new bridge deck on Huddersfield viaduct.

To ensure passengers could still travel during the upgrade work, diversionary routes and replacement bus services were put into operation.

The work forms part of the multibillion pound TRU, which aims to revolutionise journeys across the north of England by enabling more frequent, faster trains to run along a fully electrified route between Manchester, Huddersfield, Leeds and York.

The final results at Huddersfield station will include two new platforms, extended existing platforms, improved accessibility and track upgrades, with the number of tracks between Huddersfield and Ravensthorpe doubling from two to four.
