Pest made 999 threat to burn car and officer

Billie Mann rang the emergency services from her mobile and made the chilling claims to a call handler.

North Tyneside Magistrates' Court heard that the 24-year-old said she would smash the windows of a police car she'd seen and "burn alive the person inside".

Officer managed to trace Mann to Westgate Road, in Newcastle city centre, and stopped her as she walked down the street.

When challenged about the calls, Mann claimed she would keep "ringing and ringing and ringing" before she was arrested.

Now, Mann, of Victoria Road, in South Shields, is facing a possible curfew after she pleaded guilty to a malicious communications offence and a separate criminal damage offence.

Leanne Duffy, prosecuting, said police received Mann's 999 call at around 2.50pm on October 27 this year.

"The caller became abusive to the call handler and made threats to smash the windows of a police car she had seen and burn alive the person inside it," Miss Duffy continued.

The court was told that officers traced Mann back to Westgate Road, where she was challenged but said she would keep "ringing and ringing and ringing".
