The competition is a huge career landmark for Pidcock, whose first Grand Tour ride came in the Vuelta Espana last year.

Ineos described Pidcock as 'one of the most exciting talents to come out of British Cycling' - adding he is part of a 'new wave of all-round riders taking on multiple disciplines'.

He currently competes in cyclocross, mountain bike and road racing for Ineos.

After a prodigious junior and under-23 career, Pidcock turned professional in 2021. He won gold in the cross-country mountain biking at the 2020 Summer Olympics.

Pidcock started cycling when he was just three and fell in love with it. He started racing aged seven at the Castle Combe circuit in Swindon while visiting friends - though it was an inauspicious start as his chain fell off and he left in a strop after being beaten by the other competitors.
