'Pre-planned' music disrupts GCSE exam

The incident happened on Thursday last week in a GCSE physics exam at Honley High School. An email from the assistant head to all year 11 parents called the incident 'pre-planned' and said an investigation was under way

The email said more than 200 students were impacted by the incident as the assistant head apologised to anyone affected.

In a statement, Honley High School said the speaker was set off in the car park, where it could be heard in the sports hall where the exam was taking place.

The email to year 11 parents reads: "There was an unacceptable incident during the physics exam Thursday afternoon. This was pre-planned and impacted over 200 students.

"We are still investigating this incident, including reviewing all of the CCTV footage and taking witness statements.

"Should [your child] mention anything to you about this or have any further information, I would urge you to please pass this on.

"This type of behaviour will not be tolerated and I would like to apologise to any student who was adversely affected by this. We have logged this incident with the exam board and asked for special considerations to be applied to all who sat this exam in the Sports Hall."
