Fly-tipping has been a huge problem on the A635 Greenfield Holmfirth Road near the entrance to the Pennine Way for several months - both to those who live locally and to motorists who use the road

An obscene mound of rubbish littered the layby area, used frequently by walkers, for over two months. Appalling pictures taken by local farmer, Angela Crowther, showed the extent of the dumping problem.

She told the Examiner: "We have been heavily affected by the problem, all the plastic has been blowing onto our land which is a protected moorland. The rubbish had been there for at least eight weeks and we had reported it numerous times. We couldn't even turn round there some days as it is our border."

Council finally removed the huge pile of rubbish last week. The operation was carried out in stages but was completed on Friday, April, 5.

However, sadly, a mere few days after the problem was corrected, the rubbish appears to be mounting once again, causing frustration amongst locals.

The Examiner visited the site yesterday, just six days after the clean up operation was completed and was horrified to find that several bin bags of rubbish have been dumped again in the same spot, along with another pile at nearby bleak gate just up the road.
