advice in amost graphicmanner.In
reality such actionif resorted to is
unlikely to succeed andwould most
probably result in thevictim being
murdered ormore seriously assaulted
than might otherwisehaveoccurred. The
samesection does, however, contain some
soundadvice in general terms on self
defence,
laying
great
stress
on
preparedness.
Each main chapter is concluded with a
check
list
questionnaire.
These
questionnairesprovideuseful reminders
to thereader on how to avoid becoming a
victim of crime or fireand for me are the
most valuable aspectof a mediocre
publication.
The frontcover displays aneye
catching house/padlock drawing which
is likely to attract attention but I feelthat
the
content
is
not
sufficiently
professional to attract the discerning
reader whomay be more likely to pursue
his search fora publicationdealing with
the particular aspect of fireor crime
preventionwhich gives him cause for

This was certainlynota bookthat I
would haveselectedfromthe bookshelf,
having never seriouslyconsidered
psychic phenomena in connexionwith
criminal investigation andhavinglittle or
no interestin thesubject generally. I
shouldsayfromthe outset thatI look for
logical answers toall problems,hence I
am sceptical of supernatural powers to
say the least.
However, Nella Jones describes the
developmentofher "powers"during her
early life, hergradualprogressionto
healing thesick andher involvement
more recentlyinassisting thepolice in
serious criminal inquiries.Her claims
which are authenticated to a greatextent
by police andpress are,attimes, quite
staggering.
Despite
my
natural
scepticism I couldnot help but
be sufficiently impressed toconsider the
implications (whicharemany)of theuse
of such personsas aides to detectionof
serious crime.
As apsychic theauthor has assisted in
such notable criminalinvestigations as
the Genette Tate and Lord Lucan
disappearances and morerecently the
YorkshireRipperMurders.In this
instance shepredictedtwoof the
murders, accurately described the
Ripper'sfacialfeatures,his home town,
occupation and place ofwork.
A truly remarkable woman with
amazing powers, andyet, having readthe
book,it isstill extremely difficult to
comprehend her ability to receive
