Record-breaker Lyndon a Long way ahead of rivals

The competition, which doubled up as the Olympic Trials, was held in Sheffield and featured many of the top GB Paralympic swimmers as well as entrants from countries including Israel and France.

Longhorne, a member of Stanleybased Derwentside ASC, was reclassifiied to S4 but claimed new

British records in the 50 metres freestyle, 100 freestyle, 200 freestyle and 50 metres butterfly.

Some of these records had stood since the Atlanta Olympics of 1996.

To prepare for the meet, Longhorne had to move to Manchester for a month to train at the Elite Centre for Para Swimming as local pools were closed due to the lockdown.
