REPRESENTATION OF THE PEOPLE

The Rural District Council Election Rules 1962

In pursuance of the powers conferred upon me by section 29 of the Representation of the People Act 1949(a) I hereby make the following Rules:—

1. In rule 3(1) in Schedule 1 to the Rural District Council Election Rules 1951(b), as amended by Rule 2 of the Rural District Council Election Rules 1959(c) (which relates to the hours of poll), for the words "for the rural district" there shall be substituted the words "for the electoral area".

2. In rule 18(1)(a) in Schedule 1 to the Rural District Council Election Rules 1951 (which relates to the use of schools for the purpose of taking the poll or counting the votes) for the words "in receipt of a grant or in respect of which a grant is made, out of moneys provided by Parliament, from or by the Minister of Education" there shall be substituted the words "maintained or assisted by a local education authority or a school in respect of which grants are made out of moneys provided by Parliament to the person or body of persons responsible for the management of the school".

3. These Rules may be cited as the Rural District Council Election Rules 1962 and shall come into operation on 1st July 1962.
