RYAN LONGMAN was the toast of The Den as his superb long-range winner helped Millwall take a huge step towards safety

Defeat left Championship leaders Leicester glancing nervously at the chasing pack with only one point separating them from Leeds and Ipswich.

The Foxes rarely looked like taking three points after loan star Longman - who is set to return to Hull at the end of the season - hit a brilliant 59th-minute strike to turn the form book on its head.

It moved Millwall four points clear of danger and Lions boss Neil Harris said: "I'm delighted because I could sense a bit of fear coming back into the club.

The players have answered their critics. It was an excellent performance."

Despite a frantic late rally by the Foxes, the home side held on for a priceless win in their battle to beat the drop.

Leicester went into the game hoping to extend their lead at the top but they suffered stage fright on a miserable night for their title ambitions in south London.

Yunus Akgun lit up the game for Leicester with a scintillating crossfield ball that deserved better than Stephy Mavididi's poor touch when clean through.
