Scotland's future is looking very bright

The commitments made can only be described as ambitious, progressive and truly life-changing to help make Scotland the best country it possibly can be to grow, live and work - and I'm really looking forward to see how the upcoming year can positively affect life right here in our town.

The Programme for Government commits billions of pounds to tackle the challenges and grasp the opportunities facing Scotland as we come through the difficulties of the past year and look to the future - and epitomises the better Scotland the First Minister pledged is only "waiting to be built".

At the heart of the agenda are ambitious plans. These are: setting out a new vision for health and social care ?To create a land of opportunity by supporting young people and promoting a fairer and more equal society ?To secure a net zero nation by ending Scotland's contribution to climate change in a just and fair way, and ?To build an economy that works for all of Scotland's people and places by putting sustainability, well-being and fair work at the heart of our economic transformation as we come out of the challenging months we've faced as a nation.

One of the highlights of the First Minister's announcement is the whopping spend being committed to our NHS and frontline services.

At least £2.5billion is being set aside over the next five years, with a 20 per cent increase each and every year, to ensure our health care services can weather the storm brought by Covid-19 and come out stronger than before.

Equally, I think it is important to highlight that ten per cent of this frontline...
