Spin Master to Acquire Melissa & Doug for USD 950m.

Canada-based children's entertainment company Spin Master Corp. has agreed to acquire US-based early childhood play brand Melissa & Doug for USD 950m in cash, the company said.
The acquisition will bolster Spin Master's position in the children's entertainment industry and will bring complementary capabilities in early childhood toys by adding Melissa & Doug's high-quality offerings of open-ended, creative, and developmental wooden toys.
The addition of Melissa & Doug will strengthen Spin Master's offering by adding complementary early childhood products and further diversify its portfolio across new channels and formats.
Spin Master plans to finance the USD 950m purchase price with approximately USD 450m balance sheet cash and USD 500m in debt financing.
