Staveley told to pay £3m

The ruling comes after Staveley failed in her bid to have a bankruptcy petition issued against her thrown out

The High Court ruled yesterday that Staveley, who has a six per cent share in Newcastle, must pay Victor Restis £3.4m.

Staveley, who brokered the Toon takeover in 2021, was issued with a bankruptcy petition after Restis claimed she owed that sum after an investment he made in her business ventures.

She wanted the dispute settled out of court with her lawyers alleging she had "substantial ground for denying liability".
