The Swine Vesicular Disease (Amendment) Order 197325thJanuary 1973

The Minister of Agriculture, Fisheries and Food and the Secretary of State, acting jointly, in exercise of the powers vested in them under sections 1, 10, 11 and 20 of the Diseases of Animals Act 1950(a) (as read with the Transfer of Functions (Animal Health) Order 1955(b)), and of all other powers enabling them in that behalf, hereby order as follows:—
Title, extent and interpretation
1.—(1) This order, which may be cited as the Swine Vesicular Disease (Amendment) Order 1973, shall apply throughout Great Britain.
(2) In this order "the principal order" means the Swine Vesicular Disease Order 1972(c).
(3) The Interpretation Act 1889(d) applies to the interpretation of this order as it applies to the interpretation of an Act of Parliament.
Amendments to principal order
2. The principal order shall be amended as follows:—
(a) in paragraph (1) of article 3 of the principal order after the words "this order shall" where those words first occur there shall be inserted the words "(subject to paragraph (1A) below)";
(b) the following shall be inserted after paragraph (1) of article 3 of the principal order as paragraph (1A) of the said article:—
"(1A) Article 6 of the Foot-and-Mouth Disease Order of 1928(e) as amended (f), and as applied by this order, shall have effect with the substitution, for the word 'animal' wherever it occurs in that article, of the word 'pig', and for the word 'animals' wherever it so occurs, of the word 'pigs'."
