Teachers at Newcastle school to strike for six days over pension dispute

A single formal ballot saw an 'unprecedented' and 'overwhelming' yes vote for action, with 94.55% of NEU teacher members and 89.19 % of NASUWT members voting for action.

Currently the employer pays 23.68% pension contribution. But union bosses say they will not increase this following a revaluation of the scheme that has increased employer pensions contributions to 28.68%.
