Teen slashed with blade in street fight

Police have said they were called to a fight between two groups of kids in Dale Lane, Heckmondwike, on Friday night. It happened between 10pm and 10.35pm and left one 16-year-old boy with serious injuries. Emergency services found the boy had been injured by a "bladed weapon" and he was rushed to hospital for treatment. His injuries are not thought to be life-threatening

Six teenagers, aged between 13 and 19, have been arrested on suspicion of affray and have been questioned by police. Concerned residents also reported a police scene in nearby Asquith Fields during the early hours of Saturday morning.

West Yorkshire Police (WYP) have confirmed the two scenes are linked.

A spokesperson for WYP said: "Police are appealing for witnesses following an affray incident in Heckmondwike on Friday evening.

"Kirklees District CID would like to speak to anyone who witnessed or has footage of fighting between two groups of youths which took place on Dale Lane between 10pm and 10.35pm on March 1...
