After it was blasted for being "racist, rapey and homophobic", stars including Piers Morgan and TV's Loose Women have defended the much-loved musical.

But what happened to the Pink Ladies and T-Birds of the 1978 hit movie? NATASHA WYNARCZYK reveals all?

Olivia Newton-John: Sandy AFTER playing naive Sandy, who transformed into a PVC-clad temptress to snare love Danny, Newton-John went on to have major chart success with songs from the film such as the duet You're The One That I Want.

She also released solo singles including Physical and starred in the 80s film Xanadu. In 1992, she was diagnosed with breast cancer, which returned in 2013 and 2017.

Newton-John has openly talked about using cannabis oil to ease her cancer pain and has become an advocate for its medical use, as well as a patron of several health-related charities.

John Travolta: Danny NOW worth a massive £130million - more than the rest of the Grease cast combined - Travolta is the biggest star from the film. Although his acting career declined in the 1980s, he had a resurgence in the 1990s when he starred in Pulp Fiction and was nominated for an Oscar for his role as Vincent Vega.

He is a long-term member of the Church of Scientology and is a private pilot who owns four aircraft. But he has also suffered tragedy - his 16-yearold son Jett died following a seizure in 2009 and last July, his wife Kelly Preston died from cancer.

Eddie Deezen: Eugene THE actor and comedian Deezen played nerdy Eugene, known for his nasally voice. He has put his distinctive tones to good use, doing voice work for animated films including The Polar Express and the SpongeBob Square- Pants Movie.

He is also a pop culture and baseball writer for American websites.

Deezen claims to be the "biggest fan" of The Beatles and appeared in a 2005 documentary Me And Graham: The Soundtrack Of Our Lives, talking about his love for the group.

Jeff Conaway: Kenickie

THE actor went on to appear in various TV shows and films, including Babylon 5 and the fantasy spoof series Wizards And Warriors.

In 1980, Conaway married Olivia Newton-John's sister Rona, but they divorced five years later. In the 80s, he revealed he had a painkiller addiction after needing treatment for a back injury sustained while filming Grease.

In the 2000s, he relapsed and admitted to having mental health problems. In 2011, he died aged 60 from a combination of pneumonia and sepsis, linked to his drug use.
