Annoyingly, the most common opening day fixture for Huddersfield Town over the years? Blackpool at home, which they've had five times - though the most recent of those was in 1972

Sunderland (home and away): Huddersfield Town have played league games against 109 teams in their history, and only 13 of them had their last league meeting longer ago than Sunderland...and some of those other clubs went out of existence decades ago.

The Black Cats have somehow avoided playing Town since 1999.

As a result, the Terriers have only been to the Stadium of Light three times, the most recent of which was a memorable League Cup victory way back in 2003 .

More importantly, Town have not won away at Sunderland in the league since a victory at Roker Park in September 1960, making it the longest away hoodoo in the Terriers' upcoming fixture list.

Only Coventry City (1971) were last beaten in the league in Huddersfield longer ago than Sunderland (1986). preSton (away): Another of those lengthy away jinxes, Town's last win at Deepdale was all the way back in November 1969, since when 16 league meetings have yielded just seven points and nine goals...
