The Australian legend has spent time in rehab for drink and depression problems and hasn't played since retiring in April 2019.

But Warrington chief executive Karl Fitzpatrick says Inglis is now in great shape and ready to seize his comeback chance.

He said: "Greg is raring to go and is in really good condition because he's been working hard with a personal trainer under our guidance.

"There are some top players and some great players and then there is Greg Inglis above all of that.

"He is often referred to as one of the greatest ever to play the game and is going to be so special for not only our fans but the whole of Super League.

"He's had some time off from the game but he's in a positive mindset and eager to get back playing."

The former Melbourne Storm and South Sydney centre, who is 34 next week, has signed a one-year deal.

He set the move in motion after asking friend and Wolves forward Jason Clark if they would be interested in signing him.

Inglis will join his new team-mates for the first time on Friday for fitness tests. Pre-season training will start next Monday.
