The
Royal
Visit
ON THE 25th APRIL, 1961
HER MAJESTY QUEEN ELIZABETH THE SECOND AND
HIS ROYAL HIGHNESS
THE PRINCE PHILIP DUKE OF EDINBURGH
VISITED BRAMSHILL
TO MARK THE ESTABLISHMENT HERE OF
THE POLICE COLLEGE
SO RUNS THE
WORDING
ON THE PLAQUE, bearing the Royal Coat
of Arms, erected in the oak panelled hall of Bramshill where the
mullioned windows embossed with heraldic devices, and the
escutcheons of previous owners bear witness to the historic past of
the 17th century house which is now the centre for the higher training
of the police both of this country and of the Commonwealth.
The unveiling of this plaque by Her Majesty was the culmination
of a visit which marked the interest of the Queen
and
of Prince
Philip, Duke of Edinburgh, in the Police Service, and of an after-
noon, which though marred by the almost ceaseless rain, will long
be remembered by the directing staff of the College, and those
fortunate enough to be students at this time.
