The Collaborative Learning Center in Lied Library houses the offices of the Libraries
Instruction Department as well as a variety of teaching and meeting spaces where the
bulk of the services of the Department are offered. The instructional spaces in Lied
Library are more than double those in the old library building and the rooms are
equipped with much more robust and reliable technology than the Department has had
available previously. For a detailed description of facilities and technologies of the
Collaborative Learning Center, see VanderPol and Fitch (2002).
Attractive and highly functional new spaces filled with state-of-the-art technologies
in the new Lied Library created a significant spike in the demand for tours and
introductions to new spaces, hardware, and software. The Instruction Department
