Top marks for primary school after new report

Ofsted inspectors rated New Mill Infant School 'Outstanding' overall and in five key areas following visits to the school near Holmfirth in February

Inspectors said the curriculum was "wide and exciting" and said pupils are "focused and achieve exceptionally well" and added "attendance is high because pupils enjoy coming to school".

Staff take time to get to know pupils individually, according to Ofsted. Lessons were described as calm and orderly. Pupils were said to be quick to notice if someone is sad or needs encouragement to join in. Pupils with special educational needs achieve 'extremely well',' inspectors noted.

The school has made reading a priority and staff were skilled at ensuring all pupils developed
