Clr Shabir Pandor, who is hoping to become Huddersfield's next MP after Mr Sheerman steps down after 40 years, said: "We were saddened to hear that Huddersfield Food & Drink Festival could not go ahead this year.

"We had been in discussions with the organisers to help them identify a location for this year's event, but we understand the challenges they're facing and the issues which are affecting the wider events sector post-COVID.

"These are incredibly challenging times for event organisers all over the country and no one, our MP included, has been able to come up with a viable solution in time...
