Tragic boy spent days sat on stool facing wardrobe

Sebastian Kalinowski, 15, died on August 13 last year after being found at his home in Leeds Road, Huddersfield, with serious injuries

His mother, Agniezska Kalinowska and her long-term partner Andrezej Latoszewski are standing trial at Leeds Crown Court charged with his murder, manslaughter, neglect and causing or allowing the death of a child.

Latoszewski, 36, has pleaded guilty to manslaughter and both defendants have admitted cruelty to a child under the age of 16. Throughout the second week of the seven-week trial, jurors have been presented with a "timeline" created by an analyst showing events leading up to Sebastian's death.

The majority of the entries have been made of footage from a CCTV system fitted into the property last year.

On August 6, the entry began shortly after midnight, with the description reading: "Sebastian getting out of bed and urinating into a bottle. Then at 6.11am, Sebastian gets out of bed and sitting on the stool. He spends most of the day here except for eating, exercising and doing chores."

The court heard Sebastian was also assaulted that day, and jurors were shown footage of Latoszewski striking him in the chest, back, and back of the head "with each blow knocking Sebastian off balance". He was seen in the footage holding his chest.

The court heard that his day was similar to that of a day earlier, August 5. That day, the footage also captured Latoszewski injecting himself with a syringe and Sebastian showing bruising to his side to his mother while he sat on the stool.
