Boffins reckon 150 people in London have been saved over the last eight years by trees cutting temperatures - including 16 lives during heatwaves in 2022

The cooling effect of trees is more striking in built-up environments, which can be several degrees hotter than rural areas. Experts said trees help reduce deaths from causes such as dehydration, heat strokes and heart failure.
