Tree stump set for the chop

The stump, located on Oakland Road, has been the bane of neighbouring and visiting motorists' lives since the tree was cut down to size, according to one resident

The council responded to a nearmiss incident of property damage after a large branch was blown off in high winds around 18 months ago and felled it. However, local Drew Hayes claims that the resulting stump has scuppered at least 10 motorists, ranging from neighbours to Amazon drivers and white van men.

Mr Hayes' wife also recently clipped the stump and racked up a £300 repair bill for the front bumper.

The 72-year-old former mining surveyor said: "All the cars that have hit it have had damage to their front bumpers. They notice it when they park up and get in the car but then you can't see it...
