As someone who (far too regularly) edits their clothes due to lack of space (physical and mental), I am directing this at those of you who have a habit of holding on to clothes, hoarding some might call it

Right now it's you who I envy, because it is you, the fashion faithful, who file away old clothes in the hope they will one day be back on trend and who will flourish this season and next because the cycle of fashion is on full tilt.

Before I start my list, note that this is not exhaustive; micro trends crawl out of the woodwork on a daily basis. Also, remember that when a trend item is resurrected, the styling of said item will have changed, been updated, modernised. Therefore, you will need to do the same.

Let's start with ballet pumps. It's unlikely I need to tell you they are back. They've been pushing their way to the forefront of footwear trends for some time now, following hot on the heels of the flat Mary- Jane brought back by luxury brands including Chanel, The Row and Miu Miu. The last time most of us wore ballet pumps they were of the stretchy variety, bonus points if you owned a pair of Bloch or Repetto, as you will remember the discomfort of feeling as though you were walking directly on the pavement due to the wafer-thin soles.

It's pretty hard to find an outfit ballet...
