TV tribute special for much-loved presenter

The presenter passed away on Friday, June 24, aged 71 with tributes from his friends and family flowing in over the weekend

His wife spoke of her shock after his death and his co-workers and friends paid tribute to a man who was a staple of broadcasting in Yorkshire. The program started out by showing clips from across Harry Gration's long and iconic career. Amy Garcia hosted the show and paid tribute to him saying he was "synonymous with Look North".

They then moved on to talking to people who had met Harry. The show also talked about some of the most important stories he covered such as the Hillsborough Disaster and the murder of Jo Cox MP.

Simon McCoy said: "Whatever he did, he did with passion."

Dr John Sentamu, the former Archbishop of York, also discussed his memories of Harry. He described how Harry had supported and encouraged him over his career, he went on to say how he was dedicated to reported the truth.

He also talked about Harry's strong Christian faith and how he was always "full of joy".

Johnny Bairstow also described his friendship with Harry Gration and discussed some of his fond memories of Harry. Other sports stars like Sarah Stevenson also said they had always enjoyed talking to

Harry.

Dan Walker said Harry Gration was "truly loved and truly missed" while paying tribute to him.

Dickie Bird then tearfully discussed his long friendship with Harry, saying how he was shocked at his sudden death and how Harry had often come to watch the cricket at Headingley.
