Two arrests after police raid home growing cannabis

At around 12.15am on Tuesday, April 9, police attended a home in the Tynevale Avenue of Winlaton after receiving a report of suspicious activity

Once inside, officers discovered an established cannabis farm with 600 plants at various stages of growth.

A 45-year-old and a 23-year-old were arrested on suspicion of cannabis production. They were charged with the production of cannabis and appeared at South Tyneside Magistrates' Court on Wednesday, April 10.

They have been remanded in custody and will remain there until their next appearance at Newcastle Crown Court on Thursday, May 9.
