Holmfirth Vineyard, which is a visitor attraction in its own right, with a restaurant and accommodation, was named in the top 10 'stunning' vineyards in the country out of a total of 268 that can be visited by the public

Holmfirth is the only vineyard in the North of England to feature in the top 10.

It is run by owners Becky and Ian Sheveling and grows a variety of grapes for several types of wine.

To find the best vineyards to visit this summer, South Western Railway analysed 268 visitable vineyards against

Instagram hashtags, the number of five-star TripAdvisor reviews and the number of times 'beautiful', 'stunning' and 'gorgeous' were mentioned in reviews. These metrics were put in a weighted rank to award a score out of 100.

A spokesman for South Western Railway said: "There is a blossoming wine industry in the UK with production up 921% since 2012. We now have an abundance of beautiful vineyards right on our doorstep to visit and enjoy, and ahead of English and Welsh Wine Week 18-26 June, Yorkshire can boast its wonderful offering."
