The Rangers boss was left frustrated after the late call-offto their Premiership clash at Dundee yesterday morning

Tayside had been hammered by a heavy downpour and while ground staffworked from the early hours of the morning to get the game on, the Dens Park pitch was deemed unplayable.

It was heavily sanded in areas and ref Don Robertson called the game offjust an hour and 45 minutes before kick-off.

And Belgian Clement says Scottish football must lift the level of their playing surfaces.

He said: "It's a very important that the league thinks about how to raise the level of the pitches and put standards on that like they do on other things.

"They have standards with things like lighting, to have a good broadcast of the game and a good product.

"Lights are really important, but even more important is the quality of the pitches."

Scottish football chiefs are expected to hold a vote on a ban of artificial surfaces at next month's SPFL AGM.

Livingston and Kilmarnock both have artificial surfaces but Killie plan to switch back to grass for the 2025- 26 season. Clement thinks yesterday's call-offdamaged the reputation of Scottish football - after it left a hole in the Sky Sports viewing schedule.

With areas of the Dens Park turf heavily sanded and deemed unsafe, Ibrox boss Clement says whistler Robertson was RIGHT to call offthe game.

But he added: "It is a real embarrassment for the league that this can happen.

"The referee made the right decision because we can't play football on this surface but it is a crazy situation.
