The French have kicked up a right stink, and it's nothing to do with garlic

A top linguist reckons English is in fact just poorly spoken, well, French.

According to Bernard Cerquiglini, nearly half the words we use are actually derived from their native tongue.

He's basically suggesting we are a nation of Officer Crabtrees from 'Allo 'Allo, wishing everyone a "good moaning".

Au contraire, Frenchies.
