Dalton Bank Road was closed in January for safety reasons

Since then Kirklees Council have been monitoring the situation, with ground investigations taking place in March.

The investigations showed continued movement in the landslip, which the council says poses a serious threat of danger to all road users.

The council has now installed barriers and road signage to prevent vehicles accessing the unstable area and a diversion route is in place. Although Dalton Bank Road remains closed to through traffic, residents can access their homes from Nettleton Road and Bog Green Lane.

A spokesman said under no circumstances should any of the signs or guarding be moved to allow vehicle access.
