Blackwall Tunnel to partly shut all weekend with London bus route split in two and Tube customers refunded

Customers have been advised to change onto the London Underground's Jubilee line to cross the River Thames to complete their journeys. TfL says it will also ensure that those transferring from the 108 who then use the Jubilee line as part of their journey over the weekend will avoid being charged for the Tube section of their journey

This will be done via an 'automatic refund', which will be processed after the weekend. From 12.01am on Monday April 15, northbound buses will return to their normal route and southbound buses will be diverted via Tower Bridge until the tunnel is re-opened to southbound traffic.

Across the weekend, the Blackwall Tunnel will be closed for southbound traffic from 12.01am on Saturday until 5am on Monday. Bosses say southbound drivers will need to take alternative routes, as northbound traffic will not be affected by the closures.

Motorists have been urged to plan ahead to accommodate height and weight limits at Rotherhithe Tunnel and Tower Bridge, both of which are outside the Congestion Charge zone. Traffic around Rotherhithe Tunnel and along the A13 Commercial Road are expected to be heavier than normal over the weekend due to the closure, TfL adds.
