Tom Wade says his young Blyth Spartans squad have "a lot to look forward to" as they head into the second half of the season.

The Croft Park club play host to Workington today 16th in Evo-Stik Premier but boasting a number of games in hand on all of their divisional rivals.

They face an FA Cup third round tie at home to Birmingham City on Saturday week, and are through to the semi-finals of the Northumberland Senior Cup.

Wade said: "It's been a good first half of the season, and we've got a lot to look forward to now.

"The lads have responded well to the challenge, they just love playing.

"It's their second season at this level for a lot of them, and they're starting to look a lot more comfortable and experienced.

"We'll probably hit a wall at some point but hopefully not for a few months yet.

"It's tough, we've got a lot of games to catch up on and not the biggest of squads.

"But with all of our cup games, we've probably actually played just as many games as most teams.
