The donation comes after the school applied for funding via Persimmon's Community Champions initiative. Beverley School is an all-age specialist school for children and young people with a diagnosis of autism and associated learning needs, which aims to empower pupils to go on and lead independent lives.

The housebuilder's Community Champions initiative is open to all local charities, schools and community groups looking for funding. £180,000 is available every quarter with successful applicants receiving between £1,000 and £6,000.
