Three important major meetings took place in the summer of 2007: first, the 27th
International Congress of Administrative Sciences in Abu Dhabi from 9 to 14 July,
jointly with the Annual Conference of the International Association of Schools and
Institutes of Administration (IASIA), on the theme Global Competitiveness and Public
Administration: Implications for Education and Training
. Then followed the 2007
Annual Conference of the European Group of Public Administration (EGPA) which
took place in Madrid from 19 to 22 September on the issue of Public Administration
and the Management of Diversity.

The Abu Dhabi Congress was a genuine success from all points of view: partici-
pation, organization and results. The theme raised interesting debates that often led
to practical applications. As is traditional, the statutory meetings of IIAS and IASIA
took place during the Congress and elections were held for posts within the execu-
tive bodies for the next three-year term. The results are listed below:
