Well now the joke's on me. I now inhabit his space of not knowing the latest words. The difference is my dad didn't care and my kids don't waste their pocket money on buying me ancient artefacts such as books, so I am forced to Google words such as "Rizz" (charisma) and other modern terms I'm faced with

Gatekeeping (meaning to keep information to yourself) is a recent one. The term, I learn, is now used in a light-hearted manner to convey sharing the love, ie. "no gatekeeping here".

So here is me not gatekeeping some styling tips.

At this point in the season it's often shoes that can change an outfit up from wintry to springlike. In an ideal world, after Easter I would invest in a pedicure and only wear sandals, but I don't live on the Continent so open toes everyday aren't feasible just yet.

It's amazing what a bit of exposed foot or ankle does for an outfit, especially a trouser look, though.

So, as soon as the weather allows, switching to a summery flat shoe is the first thing I do. Don't keep strappy flats for holidays, shoes are the accessory that take a tailored trouser from office to chilled.

If, like me, you are average height, then chances are your trousers can't multi task from a heel to a flat because they form a puddle around your feet and sweep up dirt as you walk, not to mention ruining the hem.

The problem with this is that you then don't get proper wear out of your trousers as you're limited by the shoe choice. You don't want to hem them as you love how they look with a heel, rolling them up looks messy, and while hemming web tape is a great option, it's kind of semi-permanent.
