Craft Beer Calling returns to Newcastle with over 300 beers from 60 breweries; The second annual festival, at the Boiler Shop in Stephenson's Works, looks set to again attract thousands of thirsty booze fans.

It's time to raise those glasses as one of the North East's major beer festivals returns for its second year.

The three-day Craft Beer Calling event drew crowds of people to the birthplace of Stephenson's Rocket, in Newcastle, in 2014.

And next week it will be back with "more breweries, more beer, a bigger street food market and a more extensive programme of events."

Organiser Dave Stone, of Wylam Brewery, said: "Last year's event was fantastic given that it was the first year of the event but we don't want to rest on our laurels.

"This year we will be welcoming some amazing breweries to the UK for the first time as well as looking forward to seeing the return of some firm favourites and of course ensuring that the North East's brewing community are well represented."

Fourteen of the North East's breweries will see their beers among the more than 300 on offer, including brews from Northumberland's Allendale, West Allotment's Almasty, Morpeth's Anarchy, Big Lamp and Box Social of Newburn, Quayside brewpub the Bridge Tavern, Durham, North Shields' Mordue and Three Kings, the Ouseburn's Northern Alchemy and Out There, Middlesbrough's Truefitt, Byker's Tynebank and Wylam.
