Croydon hospital goes into partial lockdown after woman swallows poison and Met Police officers exposed

After being rushed to the local hospital by London Ambulance Service LAS, medics at the hospital found a potentially dangerous substance. The hospital was then put in partial lockdown with cordons in place, for safety purposes

It led to part of London Road, in Croydon borough, being closed off, with London buses temporarily diverted. It's unclear if parts of the hospital are still closed off, however the road itself has reopened.

A Met Police spokesperson said: "Police were called at 3.46am by London Ambulance Service to reports of a woman having ingested poison at an address in Thornton Heath. The woman was taken to a South London hospital by LAS where she was found to be in possession of a possible hazardous substance.
