The 35-year-old, from Purley, told the court she was in an abusive relationship and had allegedly been run over by the man, but turned to alcohol to cope on January 12 this year. After smoking cannabis, and drinking a bottle of wine to herself, she is said to have lost her temper and threw a plate at the child's face, causing a 2.5cm gash under their right eye which needed plastic surgery

After attending Croydon University Hospital, where Breadon admitted to staff what she had done, another child who witnessed the attack was interviewed by police. That child described Breadon arguing with the victim, then getting angry before throwing knives, forks, and plates at them. "It's likely healing of scars will continue for some time, so it's hard to assess the long-term harm," said Mr Ingle.

Defence counsel Ami Jones said her client was 'going through a difficult time' and was 'in an abusive relationship' with a man who had allegedly run her over. "She was dealing with a number of personal matters and had turned to alcohol to deal with that. She admitted what she had done to medical staff. This is not someone who tried to cover up her...
